From cuckoos to blackbirds, nightingales to goldfinches, composers have been fascinated by birdsong dating back to the 14th century. For the Birds features composers whose works were inspired by avians, imitate specific birdsongs and include audio and visual recordings of birds in nature, such as Robert Sirota’s Birds of Paradise. This performance will also include the world premiere of a new arrangement by Sirota of The Beatles’ classic ‘Blackbird.’ Performers include Linda Chesis, flute, Romie de Guise-Langlois, clarinet, Chloé Kiffer, violin, and Alexandre Moutouzkine, piano.
